Copyright & DMCA Policy

vlisten is a service operated by Iron Platforms LLP, a limited liability partnership registered in India. In this policy, "vlisten", "we", "us", and "our" refer to Iron Platform LLP.

1. Our commitment to copyright

vlisten respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users of the Service to do the same. We respond to clear and complete notices of alleged copyright infringement in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (the "DMCA") and equivalent laws in other jurisdictions.

This policy explains how rights holders can report content they believe infringes their copyright on vlisten, and how users whose content has been removed can submit a counter-notice.

2. Reporting infringement (DMCA Notice)

If you believe that content on vlisten infringes your copyright, you can submit a takedown notice. For your notice to be effective, it must include all of the following:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (e.g. the title and description, link to the original, or registration number where applicable).
  3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it (e.g. the URL of the song or album page on vlisten).
  4. Your contact information: full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on behalf of the owner.

Notices can also be submitted using the in-app reporting tool: open the song or album page, tap the three-dot menu, and select "Report Copyright Issue".

3. False or abusive notices

Submitting a fraudulent or bad-faith DMCA notice may make you liable for damages, including costs and attorney's fees. Courts have repeatedly held that copyright owners must consider fair use and other defenses before submitting takedown notices. Please ensure your notice is accurate and made in good faith.

We may publish information about questionable takedown notices and report them to organizations that track DMCA abuse.

4. What happens after we receive a notice

  1. We review the notice to confirm it is complete and meets the requirements above.
  2. If valid, we promptly remove or disable access to the material identified in the notice.
  3. We notify the user who uploaded the content that their material has been removed and provide them with a copy of the notice (with personal information of the complainant minimized where allowed).
  4. We give the affected user the opportunity to submit a counter-notice if they believe the takedown was made in error or due to misidentification.

5. Counter-notice procedure

If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or that you have the right to use the material, you may submit a counter-notice. Your counter-notice must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and the location at which the material appeared before it was removed.
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the courts of India (where Iron Platforms LLP, the operator of vlisten, is established), or if you are located outside India, any judicial district in which Iron Platforms LLP can be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original takedown notice or their agent.

Counter-notices can also be submitted directly from your account: when content is removed, you will receive an email with a link to the in-app counter-notice form.

6. What happens after a valid counter-notice

  1. We forward the counter-notice to the original complainant.
  2. We wait a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 14 business days from the date the original complainant receives the counter-notice.
  3. If the original complainant does not file a court action against the user during this period, we may restore the removed material at our discretion.
  4. If the complainant does file a court action, the material remains down pending the outcome.

7. Repeat infringer policy

We will terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are determined to be repeat infringers. We may also limit access to the Service or remove any content uploaded by users who repeatedly upload material we have reason to believe is infringing.

8. Audio fingerprinting and pre-publication checks

In addition to processing DMCA notices, we use audio fingerprinting technology to detect possible copyright infringement on uploads. When the system flags a song, the upload may be temporarily blocked and the artist asked to confirm their rights. Artists who can demonstrate that they own or are licensed to use the material can dispute the block; if approved, the song goes live.

Audio fingerprinting is not perfect — it can produce false positives. The dispute process is designed to give legitimate artists a path to clear flags. If your upload was blocked and you have the rights, please use the in-app dispute form.

10. Other jurisdictions

We comply with copyright takedown procedures in jurisdictions where the DMCA does not apply, including the EU Copyright Directive (Article 17), the UK's CDPA, and analogous laws in other regions. Notices from any jurisdiction can be submitted to the email address above.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Copyright & DMCA Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page indicates when it was last revised.
