1. Who we are
Iron Platforms LLP ("vlisten", "we", "us", "our") operates the vlisten platform, including the website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information about you when you use the Service.
By using vlisten, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
- Account details: username, email address, password (stored hashed), date of birth, profile photo, and any optional information you add (bio, social links, banner image).
- Artist details: artist name, uploaded music files, cover art, song metadata, copyright information, and identity documents you provide for verification or monetization.
- Communications: messages you send through our in-app messaging system (encrypted), support requests, dispute submissions, and reports you file.
- Payment information: when you make a purchase or subscription, payment is handled by a secure third-party payment processor. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
2.2 Information we collect automatically
- Usage data: tracks you play, songs you skip or share, playlists you create, your interactions with artists and other users.
- Device data: device type, browser type, operating system, screen size, language preference, IP address, and approximate location derived from IP.
- Audio analysis: we extract and store audio features (tempo, energy, mood) for songs uploaded to the platform to power recommendations.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see our Cookie Policy for details on what we use and why.
2.3 Information from third parties
- Verification services: when you apply for artist verification, we may receive information from social media platforms you use to confirm your identity.
- Audio fingerprinting: we use third-party fingerprinting services to detect uploads that may infringe on existing copyrights.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Personalize recommendations, playlists, and discovery features.
- Process payments for purchases, subscriptions, and creator payouts.
- Communicate with you about your account, transactions, security alerts, and (with your consent) product updates.
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, and policy violations.
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
- Protect the rights, property, and safety of vlisten, our users, and the public.
4. Legal bases for processing (for users in regions that require this)
Where applicable data protection laws require us to identify a legal basis, we rely on the following:
- Performance of a contract: to deliver the Service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests: to operate, improve, and secure the Service, and to detect fraud and abuse.
- Consent: for optional features like personalized recommendations beyond what is strictly necessary, and for marketing communications.
- Legal obligation: when we are required to retain or disclose information by law.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these limited circumstances:
- With other users: your username, profile, public playlists, and listening activity you choose to make public are visible to other vlisten users. You control most of these settings in your privacy settings.
- With service providers: we use trusted third parties to host data, process payments, send transactional emails, deliver content, and perform analytics. These providers have access only to the information needed to perform their work and are bound by contractual confidentiality.
- With artists you support: when you purchase a song, subscribe to an artist's tier, or follow them, the artist sees your username and the type of support you provided. They do not see your email or payment details.
- For legal reasons: we may disclose information to comply with valid legal process, respond to government requests, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of vlisten, our users, or the public.
- In a business transfer: if vlisten is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.
6. International data transfers
vlisten operates internationally. Your information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live. When we transfer information across borders, we take steps to ensure that it receives an adequate level of protection consistent with applicable laws.
7. How long we keep your information
- Account data: retained while your account is active. After deletion, we keep limited records for up to 30 days to allow account recovery, then permanently delete or anonymize the data.
- Listening history: retained while your account is active to power recommendations. You can request deletion at any time.
- Payment records: retained for as long as required by tax and accounting laws (typically 5-7 years).
- Uploaded content: retained while your account is active. If you delete a song, we may keep backups for up to 90 days for disaster recovery, then delete them.
- Support communications: retained for up to 2 years to help us improve our service.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: request a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: request that we delete your account and associated data.
- Portability: receive your information in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Restriction or objection: ask us to stop or limit certain uses of your information.
- Withdraw consent: where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
- Lodge a complaint: with your local data protection authority, if applicable.
You can exercise most of these rights directly in your account settings. For anything you can't do yourself, email us at privacy@vlisten.co and we'll respond within 30 days.
9. Children's privacy
vlisten is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it. In some jurisdictions the minimum age may be higher (16 in parts of Europe), and you must meet the minimum age in your country to use vlisten.
10. Security
We take security seriously. We use industry-standard practices including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, end-to-end encryption for direct messages, and access controls on internal systems. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we discover a security incident that affects you, we will notify you as required by law.
11. Marketing and communications
We send you transactional emails (account, security, payment, important updates) when necessary. We may also send occasional product updates and promotional emails — you can unsubscribe from these at any time using the link in the email or in your account settings. Transactional emails cannot be unsubscribed from while your account is active.
12. Third-party links and content
vlisten may contain links to third-party websites, services, or content (for example, an artist's social media link). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We recommend you review their privacy policies before sharing information with them.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice on the Service before the changes take effect. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last updated.
